Ingredients

  • plain flour — 250g
  • full fat cream cheese — 150g
  • spring onion — 100g
  • sunflower oil — 2 tbsp
  • garlic powder — 1 tsp
  • warm water — 150ml

Method

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 220C (gas mark 7).

  2. 2

In a mixing bowl, combine plain flour and warm water to form a smooth dough, then knead for 2 minutes.

  3. 3

Divide the dough into two balls and roll each out into a thin rectangular flatbread shape.

  4. 4

Place flatbreads on a baking tray and brush with a little sunflower oil mixed with garlic powder.

  5. 5

Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden and crispy.

  6. 6

While baking, thinly slice the spring onions.

  7. 7

Remove flatbreads from the oven, spread a generous layer of full fat cream cheese over the top, and scatter the sliced spring onions evenly.

  8. 8

Return to the oven for 2 minutes to slightly soften the onions and warm the cream cheese before serving.

Why this works

The tanginess of the cream cheese cuts through the rich, slightly sweet notes of the spring onions, while the garlic-infused flatbread provides a perfect crunchy texture to support the creamy topping.
