Ingredients

  • pork sausages (high meat content) — 4
  • baking potatoes — 600g
  • salted butter — 40g
  • semi-skimmed milk — 60ml
  • sunflower oil — 1 tbsp
  • onion gravy granules — 2 tbsp

Method

  1. 1

Peel the baking potatoes, chop them into even-sized chunks, and place them in a large saucepan of cold salted water.

  2. 2

Bring the potatoes to the boil and simmer for 15-20 minutes until tender when pierced with a fork.

  3. 3

While the potatoes boil, heat the sunflower oil in a frying pan over medium heat and cook the sausages for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and cooked through.

  4. 4

Drain the potatoes in a colander and return them to the saucepan. Add the butter and milk, then mash until smooth and creamy.

  5. 5

Prepare the gravy by mixing the granules with 200ml of boiling water.

  6. 6

Serve the sausages on a generous bed of mash and pour over the onion gravy.
