Ingredients

  • ready-rolled puff pastry — 375g
  • mincemeat — 400g
  • egg (beaten) — 1 medium
  • icing sugar — 1 tsp

Method

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan/gas mark 6).

  2. 2

Unroll the puff pastry and use a round cutter to cut out 12 circles large enough to line the holes of your muffin tin.

  3. 3

Gently press the pastry circles into the muffin tin holes.

  4. 4

Place a generous tablespoon of mincemeat into each pastry case.

  5. 5

Use any remaining pastry scraps to cut out small stars or lids to place on top of the mincemeat.

  6. 6

Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg to ensure a golden finish.

  7. 7

Bake for 15-18 minutes until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.

  8. 8

Remove from the tin, cool slightly on a wire rack, and dust with icing sugar before serving.

Why this works
