Ingredients
- ripe conference pears — 2 large
- runny honey — 2 tbsp
- ground cinnamon — 1 tsp
- unsalted butter — 15g
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C/160°C fan/gas mark 4.
- 2
Slice the pears in half lengthways and use a teaspoon to carefully scoop out the core and seeds.
- 3
Place the pear halves cut-side up in a small baking dish.
- 4
Melt the butter and mix it with the honey and cinnamon, then brush the mixture over the cut surface of the pears.
- 5
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the pears are soft and tender when pierced with a fork.
- 6
Remove from the oven and serve warm, optionally drizzling with any remaining juices from the pan.
Why this works
The natural sweetness of the pears is caramelised by the heat, while the honey adds a floral depth that pairs perfectly with the woody, warming spice of the cinnamon.
